if you were a bag what would it look like?

This is my second project at uni, and this is my bag. It's meant to be a bag that can change as i do as i'm not 100% who i am yet. It comes with 3 stamps that can be changed on the front of the bag, and it can also open out to be a poster.

Making the right decision ....

In 7 weeks time, i'll be tearing my wardrobe to pieces, trying to find 'that' outfit, the one to make an impression, choosing a bag from what my mother describes as a ridiculous amount of bags, and trying to decide which shoes are the right shoes to complete my look. The day? Day 1 of university. The day that for the last 2 years i've been expecting, yet now its here its come so soon!

This is not the first time I have had this niggling in me that says, is this the right decision? Because this time last year i decided that university was not for me. It scared me and for a long time i went along with everyone saying it was the 'thing' to do. But sometimes its not. And even though I am now ready to go to university and the whole experience is completely right for me, its taken me a whole year to get there. For the last year, i've worked, applied for tons of jobs and experience and all of it made me realise what i want to do for the next 3 years.

I recently read an article in company magazine, where they asked people what they wanted to do jobwise, and told them how they could achieve it. And not all of the successful people they asked went to university, many are where they are today through sheer determination, and their personality.

So in 7 weeks time, i may or may not be doing the right thing, but do you know what? I don't care. I'm still young and have my whole life to make an impression on the world. University is just one chapter in my life, one that cannot come sooner! Don't listen to the people who tell you, you can't get anywhere without going to university. Because i've been out, i've worked and not everyone went to university. You need to do whats right for you, not for everyone else. And if that means taking the time out to decide then do it! You only live once and you should have no regrets!

I am so excited, i've already started buying a 'university wardrobe' with those must-haves. Its all i'm thinking about at the moment and i can't wait to get learning again!

Just follow your heart, while listening to your head! They'll both be right ..... D x

It's been a while....

Its been 4 months since my last blog!! I've been so busy that i just kept forgetting to carry it on!! However, i've been truely inspired lately by so many things in magazines, and on the tv that all my motivation and excitement about my future has made me into a little kid before christmas!! i can't wait!!!

Where to begin though?
Well Sarah Burton (as i previously talked about in a post) has had a busy few months!! I knew she was destined to be great, and by george she's taking the fashion, royal and celebrity world by storm. Not only has she designed the dress that made Pippa middletons name one of THE most talked about, she also designed THE most gorgeous, and unique wedding dress for Kate Middleton in a fairytale wedding watched by millions!! I still love her designs and i really am inspired by her creations!!

I can't wait to see what comes next from this Brilliant British designer!! D x

a romantic week in the forest...

So this week me and my boyfriend went along to Centre Parcs at sherwood forest. I was a bit anxious at first as where i've spent the majority of my childhood going to centre parcs, he has never been. But He loved it! we had the most romantic week and both needed the relaxtion it gives you; morning walks, feeding the ducks and swimming under the stars in a heated pool was just perfect. It gave me lots of thinking time and inspiration and i got to use my camera again for the first time in months.... something i greatly miss.

so if any of you are thinking of having a small break i definately recommend!! we're already looking for next year. very exciting!!

hope this sunny weather has kept you smiling.... D x

love, and deserving the world...

So today was valentines day. A day for flowers, chocolates, cards etc. I used to think that the day was just a money making scheme; But thats until i met someone to share it with. Waking up to someone who can make you have a big soppy grin on your face at 9am on a monday morning is a keeper! A day of surprises, and romance, every girl in the universe deserves to be spoilt today! And i had my fair share with these beautiful roses turning up on my doorstep this afternoon, only to be followed by my boyfriend comming home from work with a single red rose.

One man said to me at work the other day, that for him, everyday was valentines day with his girlfriend, and she only deserved the best. So to all those people who hate valentines day or think its a waste of a day its not. It's just an extra day to show that person that they mean everything, and deserve the world.

Hope you spent the day with a special person, and got your world Dx

'My buisness is too create..'

Today i watched PS I Love You, and i cried so much i still have a headache. It was such a beautiful, emotional film, but what made it so perfect was how it wasn't all doom and gloom (and the fact Gerard Butler was in it!).  I loved every second of it, especially the last letter. Emotional times!!

Sarah Burton for Mcqueen

Someone i have become really interested in towards the end of the year was Sarah Burton! Paris Fashion week and she practially had all eyes on her. The collection still had the feel of Alexander McQueen's designs but she embraced her feminine side, and gave the collection that extra romance that pushed it into the new era. That made everyone stop and watch. With exaggerated hips, tight corset/bodices and broad shoulders, she tried to accentuate the female figure, which she achieved, with full marks. The materials - Chiffon, silk, lace and handmade feather butterflies gave it elegance and sophistication.

The collection, sexy and female, still had every ounce of McQueen about it which i think no-one could fault. She showed herself to be a brilliant designer, and one i think, that will be around for many more fashion weeks to come.
